Hayden Cristensen stars in SciFi movie Jumper

Another sci fi movie. wee! I’m not a big fan of science fiction (reminds me too much of Prof. Paluga’s discussions) but there are some movies who gets through, especially if the cast includes a hunk or two. lol.

Jumper is an adaptation from a novel by Stephen Gould about people called Jumpers. Because of a certain genetic mutation (other reviews called it a genetic anomaly), a particular lineage have developed the gift of transporting themselves through space and time.

Hayden Cristensen discovers his gift only to find out that this ability has existed for thousands of years and is at war with people who wants to eliminate this entire lineage.

I’m beginning to notice a recurrent theme in most sci-fi shows I watch–genetic mutation and the battle between keeping this gift or not. Xmen, Heroes, and now Jumper, all posits the same theme.

Can’t wait to see this movie. :)

UP Dance Ensemble presents Perspective

UP Dance Ensemble presents Perspective

The UP Mindanao Dance Ensemble will be showcasing once more their dancing prowess on February 8, 2008, 6:30 pm at the SM entertainment plaza. The Dance Ensemble specializes in jazz, ethnic, and neo ethnic dances. Founded and trained by Prof. Alma Brigole, the Dance Ensemble have never failed to regale their audience with their expertise and discipline.

The group has been through a lot of changes, and this year they will be performing under a new adviser, Ms. Kristina Tan with Ms. Jonasyl Auxtero as artistic director.  Both girls were active members of the Dance Ensemble during their university days. The concert is held annually, and is one of the most awaited events in UP Mindanao. Everybody is invited, no tickets needed because it’s for free.:)

Kudos to Pearl, Rose, and the rest of the Dance Ensemble members for preparing what I’m sure of is another breath taking performance.

Salutti’s Italian Restaurant

Last Saturday I was lucky again to join the Davao Bloggers Food trip at Salutti, an Italian Restaurant in Casa de Habana compound on Rizal St., next to Caude’s Le Cafe de Ville, and just before Someplace Else.

Salutti, which means cheers in Italian is yet one of the best restaurants in Davao I’ve been to. The place is quite small but very charming, with good lighting fixtures, clean lines, a bar, and a patio where you can dine al fresco. Salutti’s owner Tricie Arcenas graciously treated us to an afternoon of gastronomic delights that came in five sets: spuntini, insalate, panini, pasta, and dolci.
