Eye Glasses
26 Feb
This morning I rolled out of bed and reached for my laptop to check on my email and the status of the files I was uploading to the server.
It was 12am, an hour before my shift starts, giving me about 15 minutes to spend online. This mad affair has been going on for years and probably for the next few years as well. Today was different because for a while I couldn’t see the text on the screen. It was all light and fuzzy, with no decipherable characters.
So I closed my eyes for a few seconds more… thinking it was just one of those “I woke up so everything’s still fuzzy” moments. But I opened my eyes and it was still the same. Panicking, I leaned in closer, my face just a few inches away from the screen. The text popped out. Torrent is at 85%, 6 new messages in my inbox, and an alert about taking my meds.
I leaned back from the screen, assuming my usual position– laptop on my lap, my back on the bed’s headboard.
I could make out the shapes and lines. I could see the collage that I have set as my desktop background but I could not read the text, not even the php script I was playing around with on notepad.
I know I should have had my eyes checked months ago but I’ve been trying my best to ignore it. Why? Because I just could not imagine myself wearing a pair of glasses or even contacts.
A little strange coming from a girl who digs guys with specs, yes?
