I’m trying, I’m trying!

1 Dec

One of my goals this year was to get fit. I have a healthy and sometimes not so healthy appetite for food. I just love to eat, and sometimes, the greasier the food is, the better. But, recent episodes have convinced me that prevention really is better than cure. Pain meds are a pain in the arse, that includes all those iron and vitamin c supplements, and the PT’s fees are a major pain for my wallet.

The past few months my weight see-sawed like mad, although it wasn’t that noticeable. I admit to going on a rigorous exercise scheme, one that effectively nicked all those pounds I gained during my last few months in Davao and then some. Rigorous is a rather harsh term, yes, but what’s rigorous to me might be different from what most people have in mind. I hardly exercise so 15 minutes on the treadmill is already rigorous for me. LOL.

The new exercise routine worked but the PT noticed and told me I had to slow down because I was losing weight too fast. I looked at him in bewilderment, thinking, ano ba, the other month lang you were saying I should lose a few pounds to alleviate the back pains tapos ngayon I should slow down?! wtf?.

So I slowed down and busied  myself with freelance work, exercising only when I remember to.  Though I ditched the exercise program (or at least most of it) I still went on with my yogurt addiction. I eat at least 3 to 5 cups a week. Then I discovered Pat Pat’s Kansi. I blame it all on my cousin Noli. Did I mention that I loved fatty food? Well, bulalo tops the list, next to fries and McDo’s cheeseburger. Add redhorse to the list and I got me an equation for weight gain.

Just last week I woke up feeling a little off… it was 2 am and I couldn’t sleep because the back pains were back. It wasn’t that painful but just enough to scare me into losing weight. So here I am, ditching bulalo, pizza, and beer for yogurt, milk, and a 30 minute date with the strider at the office gym. Wish me luck.
